EQUUS offers programs at G&G Arabians, a private facility in eastern Jackson County just off of Highway I-470 in Kansas City.

Jeanie Bower - Director of Programs and Founding Partner

Jeanie maintains Level II certification from EAGALA in EAP (Equine Assisted Psychotherapy).

Jeanie has owned and managed a number of other businesses before partnering with Cindy to form EQUUS Center for Equine Assisted Therapy.

Cindy Parkans - Executive Director and Founding Partner

Cindy is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in both Kansas and Missouri. Cindy was in private practice and specializes in group faciliatation and consulting.

Cindy specializes in group facilitation, consulting, training and psychotherapy. Cindy is also EAGALA certified Level II.

Shelley Stelmach-Nigro - is a licensed professional counselor. Her undergraduate degree is in occupational therapy and she has a Master's Degree in psychology.

Shelley completed five years of clinical training in 1990 with the Hartford Family Institute and she is EAGALA certified. Shelley also operates a private practice in addition to her work with EQUUS.


All members of the EQUUS Staff are EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth & Learning) certified. EAGALA provides education, standards, innovation and support to professionals providing services in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Our therapists are state certified.
